My Sneaky Calorie Experiment!

I did an experiment this past week! I was going through coffee creamer bottles like they were water between my morning coffee and my new nightly obsession which is Iced Lemon Loaf or Raspberry Zinger tea with french vanilla creamer (I have been digging the oat milk creamers but also get coffee mate sometimes too!)

I was going through so many bottles of this way too fast bc I was just pouring it in with reckless abandon 🤣

When I started to measure and track how much creamer I was actually using it turned out I was having about 400 calories per day worth of creamer! Now this is totally fine if you absolutely love the taste of creamer in your coffee and tea and find it worth it, but for me, I’d rather use a little bit less creamer and use those calories for a snack before bed!

The same applies to condiments like ketchup, bbq sauce and oils and salad dressings! None of these items are bad and can fit into a healthy lifestyle, but if you feel like you are doing all the right things and just can’t seem to get that scale moving then I highly encourage you to take a look at the portions you are consuming of these items.

And of course, soda and juice are loaded with sugar, so enjoy them sparingly and view them as a treat vs an everyday beverage or source of hydration!

Again, none of these items are actually “bad” bc there’s no good or bad foods, but it’s so important to be mindful of what we are adding to our foods!

Have you ever taken some time to measure what you are adding to foods? Have you been surprised at how many extra calories you were consuming?
